SUSTAINABLE MANUFACTURING

Rudolf Hauschka (1891 - 1969), founder of Dr. Hauschka cosmetics, was an Austrian entrepreneur, chemist, inventor, author, and anthroposophist.

He is renowned for developing a unique production process which includes a 'rhythmic' manufacturing aspect. This modern process does not include the use of alcohol. (In these times it was in common to use alcohol as a preservative of plant extracts.) Even more impressive is the fact, that Dr. Hauschka's new method leads to a process that is able to preserve the plant extracts for over 30 years.

Talking about sustainable production processes, it is of note that Dr. Hauschka skincare products and natural make up were developed and since then produced by the manufacturer Wala Heilmittel GmbH, which was also found by Rudolf Hauschka.

GOOD FOR YOU AND GOOD FOR THE PLANET

Organic natural cosmetics are made out of raw materials such as essential oils, herbal extracts and floral waters, waxes, fats, or flavors from organic farming.
But most importantly these products have to be free of parabens, silicons, microplastic, and crude oil, should not use preservatives (or as little as possible by using natural preservatives only) to make sure they are gentle to your skin and considerate to the environment. At the same time, these resources have to be grown organically or should come from wild harvesting.

Therefore you will never find ingredients like the following in any of Dr. Hauschka products - to name just a few:
coal tar dyes, ethanolamines (TEA, MEA DEA), ethoxylated ingredients (sodium laureth sulfate), parabens, petroleum-derived synthetics, polyethylene glycols (PEGs), silicones, synthetic colors (Dr. Hauschka mineral pigments are nature-identical), synthetic fragrances.

Compared to conventional skincare, natural cosmetics are really skin-friendly, (most times) not tested on animals, are GMO-free and free of ionized radiation. They are mainly made out of plant-based ingredients, but there can be also mineral and animal resources included (like f.e. beeswax, silk powder, lactose, carmine, honey, pearl powder, royal jelly, lanolin etc.)
