The story behind ... Un Jardin Sur La Lagune Body Lotion
It's springtime and funnily enough we already dream about summer. For now, we enjoy sunbeams shining through our windows and the pleasure of springtime beauty products.
Let's have a look at Hermès signature scent, Un jardin sur la lagune body lotion - for him and her.
FRESHNESS AND BLOOMING NUANCES
Christine Nagel, the renowned in-house perfumer of Hèrmes, created an outstanding scent edition, which was released (together with Un Jardin Sur La Lagune perfume) in March 2019.
The body lotion's delicate oriental floral character is created by sea and wood nuances, which are combined with floral notes of Madonna lily and magnolia.
This compound of freshness creates a kind of natural summer sea breeze, which includes very delicate and noble notes of samphire and pittosporum.
Like the fragrance, the main accords of Hermes Un Jardin Sur La Lagune body lotion are white floral, marine, floral, woody and aromatic.
It's freshness and blooming nuances makes the body lotion a perfect choice for daily enjoyment. Especially during spring and summertime the light but lasting scent could also replace a perfume.
This luxury body lotion keeps your skin hydrated and surrounds you with delightful floral nuances.
Its elegant scent belongs to Hermes' Jardin collection, which is much beloved all over the world. (Hermès Garden collection)
The unisex fragrance conveys the magic of a secret garden. Because the story tells about a hidden blooming place in Venice, behind a stone wall inside a lagoon.
LIKE A FAIRYTALE
The story sounds like a fairytale, but it is true. More then 100 years ago, Lord Frederic Eden came to Venice and designed this garden paradise together with his wife Caroline. The Englishman, a great-uncle of British Prime Minister Anthony Eden owned the property on the island of Giudecca since 1884.
Therefore the place was named Garden of Eden in Venice, also known as Eden Garden (Italian: Giardino Eden). His sister in law, Caroline's sister, was renowned garden designer Gertrude Jekyll. The area of about eight acres contained roses, uncountable amounts of Madonna lily, many other English flowers, animals, and statues.
It was a symbol of the English landscape garden also to remind of the British presence in Venice. The couple created Venice's largest private garden with courts, lawns, and paths lined with cypresses. Originally the property also contained a former building of the sisters of Santa Croce and still today the famous garden includes a villa.
ART, CULTURE, AND NATURE
The idyllic island was frequented by many renowned artists like writers, poets, actors, photographers, and painters - including Eleonora Duse, Baron Corvo, Henry James, Marcel Proust, Rainer Maria Rilke and many more.
After Lord Eden's death in 1916, his widow kept this magic place on Giudecca Island. In 1927, one year before her death, she sold the garden to Aspasias Manos, the widow of King Alexander of Greece. Together with her daughter Alexandra, Aspasia lived in the beautiful villa until the Greco-Italian War erupted in 1940. Unfortunately, the building was damaged during World War II, but Aspasia rebuilt the villa when peace returned. Finally, the Garden of Eden became a national monument (Italian: Monumento Nazionale).
Until 1972 Aspasia lived in the villa and after her death, her daughter Alexandra sold the property in 1979 to Austrian painter Friedensreich Hundertwasser.
He encouraged wild vegetation and the garden turned more and more natural again. Since his death in 2000, the garden belongs to a foundation and it is no more open to the public.
EDEN'S GARDEN
Fortunately, Christine Nagel was allowed to visit Eden's garden exclusively. She chose an extraordinary combination of floral flavors to create a unique perfume. Therefore the scent Un Jardin Sur La Lagune conveys pure distinctiveness.
Its caressing and vibrant fragrance reminds of an Italian summer breeze and underlines the appearance of the moisturizing body lotion.
THE HOUSE OF HÈRMES PARIS
Like the perfume, product design and packaging design are also extraordinary. The pure white glass flask comes with delicate blushing orange letters and reminds us of the signature colour of the House of Hermes. Black and silver details create an even more delicate appearance of the bottle.
Regarding Hermes Eau de Toilette, this one also includes an outer paper packaging which is elegant and very arty.
The famous illustration, which appears on the packaging, was illustrated by renowned artist Safet Zec.
Obviously, Hermes created another scent masterpiece, which fits perfectly to the Haut Couture's house style: fashionable, outstanding, pure, and timeless.
